About us

Our team is made up of passionate marine conservation divers who volunteer their time to Ghost Diving Foundation, cleaning up underwater waste, specifically abandoned, lost or otherwise discarded fishing gear (ALDFG). Driven by a constant pursuit of innovative ways to detect pollution and a shared passion for new technologies, integrating drones (UAV) into our efforts was a natural evolution.

SKARV was founded in 2022 and emerged as an idea during a project where we started using drones effectively to locate lost fishing gear in Greek coastal areas.

‘SKARV’

Just as the cormorant navigates both air and water, we navigate the skies to safeguard and capture the essence of marine ecosystems. The bird’s vigilant and resourceful nature makes it an ideal representation for your commitment to ocean and shoreline conservation.

Our name is a tribute to these fascinating birds.

“The cormorant is one of the water birds that dies most often from lost or abandoned fishing gear. Because these birds can dive deep and long to hunt fish, fishing gear has the same effect on them as it does on fish when they get entangled.” — Ghost Diving Foundation
